Proximity to noise sources, socio-economic characteristics and diagnosis of high blood pressure among urban dwellers in ibadan, nigeria
High blood pressure (BP) is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and death. Studies have identified relationship between noise and high BP, although, limited literature exist on the effects of proximity to healthcare, pharmaceutical shops, bus stops, churches, and mosques on high BP. We investigated the relationship between proximity to noise sources, socioeconomic, demographic factors and diagnosed high BP in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in low-and-medium-income countries, but the pattern and determinants of stroke fatality are yet to be clearly understood among Africans. Addressing Stroke Literacy in Nigeria Through Music: A Qualitative Study of Community Perspectives
The incidence of stroke in Nigeria is unknown, but stroke literacy, defined here as awareness of stroke warning symptoms and risk factors may be poor in high-risk communities. Although there is growing recognition of the use of music as a conduit to promote health literacy, African music is often overlooked as a source of health information. We sought to understand community-level perspectives on using African music to promote acute stroke literacy.
