Behav Ther. 2023 Sep;54(5):892-901. doi: 10.1016/j.beth.2023.03.008. Epub 2023 Mar 31.ABSTRACTThe purpose of the current study was to examine engagement with Behavioral Parent Training (BPT) for families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and assess openness to novel delivery formats for BPT (e.g., telehealth, group). Participants were caregivers of 501 children with ASD (ages 2-6) enrolled in the SPARK (Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge) online national registry. Using a Flipped Classroom and Role-Play to Introduce Nursing Students to LGBTQIA+ Patient Care
Nurs Educ Perspect. 2023 Sep-Oct 01;44(5):323-325. doi: 10.1097/01.NEP.0000000000001183. Epub 2023 Aug 3.ABSTRACTThis project used a flipped classroom method to introduce prelicensure baccalaureate nursing students to the concept of sexual orientation and gender identity and increase student knowledge and comfort in the care of these individuals. Teaching-learning strategies included self-instruction via video and classroom activities of group discussion and role-play. The educational activity used a pre- and posttest design to evaluate learning outcomes. After implementation, students reported a greater understanding of t...

Association between antihypertensive medicine use and risk of ovarian cancer in women aged 50 years and older

Discovery of a novel genetic variant in the N-acetyltransferase2 (NAT2) gene that is associated with bladder cancer risk
This study aimed to discover novel SNPs in NAT2 and to assess the association with BC. This was a case-control study among 120 BC patients and 120 controls. Amplification of a 446 bp fragment of NAT2 encoding the N-catalytic domain was conducted using a polymerase chain reaction. Gene sequencing was done using Sanger-based technology. A total of 40 SNPs were detected. Two variants were significantly associated with BC (p<0.05); namely a novel c.87G>A and the reported c.341T>C. Regarding c.87G>A, genotype distribution was significantly associated with BC and subgroup analysis confirmed that this was significant ...
