HDL cholesterol efflux capacity and phospholipid content are associated with the severity of acute ischemic stroke and predict its outcome
CONCLUSIONS: Changes in CEC and composition of HDL appear to be associated with the severity and outcome of acute ischemic stroke and could represent biomarkers that may inform risk stratification and management strategies in these patients.PMID:36657609 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2023.117229

Assessment of atherosclerosis in ischemic stroke by means of ultrasound of extracranial/intracranial circulation and serum, urine, and tissue biomarkers
Curr Med Chem. 2022 Aug 17. doi: 10.2174/0929867329666220817123442. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIt is a common practice to take into consideration: age, diabetes, smoking, treated and untreated systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol for the prediction of atherosclerosis and stroke. There are, however, ultrasound markers in use for the assessment of atherosclerosis and the evaluation of stroke risk. Two areas of investigation are of interest: the carotid artery and the intracranial arterial circulation. Again, within the domain of the carotid artery, two ultrasonic markers have at...

Telomere Length as a marker of biological aging: A critical review of recent literature
CONCLUSION: The present review attempted to examine the purported relation between leukocyte TL and age-related diseases such as CVD and more specific stroke and heart disease in view of the best established, comprehensive, medical and epidemiological criteria that have characterized the focused recent relevant research. Although several recommendations have been made that may contribute significantly to the field, a call for novel technical approaches and studies is mandatory to further elucidate the possible association.PMID:35838223 | DOI:10.2174/0929867329666220713123750
