Tick-borne Encephalitis: Stroke-like Presentation
We report a unique case of clinical symptoms and radiological findings compatible with a stroke-like inflammatory lesion in the thalamus, suggesting microangiopathy from TBEV. Our case shows that TBEV could be a possible cause of stroke-like lesions.

Co-Effect of Serum Galectin-3 and High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol on the Prognosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke
This study aimed to evaluate the coeffect of galectin-3 and HDL-C on death and vascular events within 1 year after ischemic stroke. Materials and Methods: Based on China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke, a prospective study was conducted among 2970 patients with acute ischemic stroke. The primary outcome was a combination of death and vascular events within 1 year after ischemic stroke.

Study of the Inflammatory Mechanisms in Hyperhomocysteinemia on Large-Artery Atherosclerosis Based on Hypersensitive C-Reactive Protein —A Study from Southern China
Objective: To study the inflammatory mechanism of hyperhomocysteinemia on large-artery atherosclerosis based on hypersensitive C-reactive protein in patients. Methods: In all, 153 inpatients and 1357 physical examinees were selected. The levels of homocysteine were compared between the carotid/intracranial artery stenosis group and the nonstenosis group, between the carotid artery unstable plaque group and the nonplaque group, and between the intima-media thickness (IMT) greater than or equal to 1 group and the normal IMT group.

A Dose-Response Relationship Between Sleep Duration and Stroke According to Nonhealth Status in Central China: A Population-based Epidemiology Survey
Purpose: The aim was to investigate the relationship between sleep duration and stroke according to nonhealth status among adults in Central China. Methods: A total of 18,670 participants were selected by stratified multistage random sampling method in Henan province during 2013-2015. Restricted cubic splines and logistic regression were used to calculate the association between sleep duration and stroke. Results: Sleep duration showing a J-shaped dose-response association with risk of stroke among the Chinese adults in the study.

Association of CYP3A4*1G and CYP3A5*3 With the 1-year Outcome of Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Han Chinese Population
Background and purpose: Previous studies have shown that common variants within CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 are associated with statin pharmacokinetics and the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the association of variants in CYP3A4 and CYP3A5 with the prognosis of ischemic stroke remains undetermined. Therefore, we investigated this herein. Methods: Four hundred thirty-three consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke were recruited. The outcome at the 1-year follow-up was assessed using the modified Rankin Scale (mRS).

External Validation of START nomogram to predict 3-Month unfavorable outcome in Chinese acute stroke patients
Recently, the NIHSS STroke Scale score, Age, pre-stroke mRS score, onset-to-treatment Time (START nomogram) predicts 3-month functional outcome after intravenous thrombolysis in ischemic stroke patients. However, this model has not yet been an external validation. We aim to validate the performance of START nomogram.

Electroacupuncture for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy after Stroke: A Meta-Analysis
Background: Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) is the common complication among stroke and cerebral injury patients, which is lack of safe and effective treatment. Electroacupuncture (EA) may potentially be a reliably therapy, but the evidence is insufficiency. Methods: Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, Embase, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan Fang Data, the Chinese Biology Medicine disc, etc., were searched, until July 20, 2018. We included random control trials that contrast EA with conventional rehabilitation therapy for the treatment of RSD.

Platelet Surface CD62p and Serum Vitamin D Levels are Associated with Clopidogrel Resistance in Chinese Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Background: To explore the association of platelet activation markers, vitamin D, and antiplatelet drugs resistance in ischemic stroke patients. Methods: A total of 230 patients with ischemic stroke were enrolled in this study. Platelet aggregation, platelet activation marker (CD62p), and vitamin D were measured after 7-14 days of dual antiplatelet treatment (aspirin  + clopidogrel). All individuals were divided into a drug resistance group and a drug sensitive group according to the platelet maximum aggregation rate induced by antagonist adenosine diphosphate or arachidonic acid.

Serum Rheumatoid Factor Levels at Acute Phase of Ischemic Stroke are Associated with Poststroke Cognitive Impairment
Background: The effect of serum rheumatoid factor (RF) on poststroke cognitive impairment remains unknown. We aimed to investigate the association of serum RF in the acute phase with cognitive impairment at 3 months after ischemic stroke onset. Methods: Our study was based on a random sample from the China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke, a total of 582 patients from 7 of 26 participating sites of the trial with serum RF levels were included in this analysis. Cognitive impairment was defined as Mini-Mental State Examination less than 27 or Montreal Cognitive Assessment less than 25.

A Preliminary Study of the Association between Apolipoprotein E Promoter Methylation and Atherosclerotic Cerebral Infarction
Aim: To investigate association of Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) gene promoter methylation with atherosclerotic cerebral infarction (ACI) in the Han Chinese population. Methods: Twenty-six ACI patients (the case group) and 26 healthy (the control group) were recruited randomly from Henan Han nationality population, from April 2016 to August 2016. Bisulfite pyrosequencing technology was used to examine the role of the aberrant gene promoter methylation in ACI in Han Chinese population. Especially, we used the odds ratio and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) method to elevate the correlation between ApoE Promoter Methylation and ACI.

Metabolic Profile for Prediction of Ischemic Stroke in Chinese Hypertensive Population
Stroke burden is extremely high in Chinese hypertensive population. Novel biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases can be detected by metabolomic profiling of human fluids. We aim to find a panel of distinctive plasma metabolites for predicting incident ischemic stroke in hypertensive patients.

Intravenous Thrombolysis Is Safe and Effective for the Cryptogenic Stroke in China: Data From the Thrombolysis Implementation and Monitor of Acute Ischemic Stroke in China (TIMS-China)
The intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) therapy is safe and efficient during the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Nonetheless, the different outcomes among various stroke subgroups have limited data with regard to the safety and efficacy of cryptogenic stroke (CS). The present study compared the safety and efficacy when IVT with rt-PA was used for the treatment of CS and the other stroke subtypes.
