Tracking contaminants of concern in wet-weather sanitary sewer overflows
The objective was to identify the risks posed by sewage contaminants to aquatic biota in the receiving waters, to aid in prioritising management actions. Twelve organic contaminants were identified in influents across the four sites under rainfall ingress diluted conditions, with measurements showing that the highest concentrations were restricted to the anti-inflammatory acetaminophen and the diabetes medication metformin. Lesser contaminants included theobromine, ibuprofen, sucralose, and three benzotriazoles (mainly 1-H benzotriazole). An assessment of the toxicity of the identified organic chemicals indicated that none...

Acetaminophen metabolites on presentation following an acute acetaminophen overdose (ATOM-7)
This study found that those who developed hepatotoxicity had higher acetaminophen metabolites derived from CYP pathway and lower sulfation metabolite on presentation. Acetaminophen metabolites may be utilised in the future to identify patients who could benefit from increased acetylcysteine or newer adjunct or research therapies.PMID:36919638 | DOI:10.1002/cpt.2888

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) for chronic non-cancer pain in children and adolescents.
CONCLUSIONS: There was no evidence from randomised controlled trials to support or refute the use of paracetamol (acetaminophen) to treat chronic non-cancer pain in children and adolescents. We are unable to comment about efficacy or harm from the use of paracetamol to treat chronic non-cancer pain in children and adolescents. We know from adult randomised controlled trials that paracetamol, can be effective, in certain doses, and in certain pain conditions (not always chronic). This means that no conclusions could be made about efficacy or harm in the use of paracetamol (acetaminophen) to treat chronic non-cancer pain in ch...
