Keys to Driving Implementation of the New Kidney Care Models
Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2022 Mar 14:CJN.10880821. doi: 10.2215/CJN.10880821. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTContemporary nephrology practice is heavily weighted toward in-center hemodialysis, reflective of decisions on infrastructure and personnel in response to decades of policy. Investigating polymorphisms related to chronic kidney disease and the effect of health and nursing education on self-management ability and quality of life in hemodialysis patients
In this study, we investigated some health management parameters in the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. The results of this study showed that family support, self-management of personnel, and the nursing system have a positive and significant correlation with the quality of life in these patients (p=0.002). This means that family and social support along with the modern nursing system and self-management can lead to an increase in the quality of life in hemodialysis patients. Also, the results of polymorphism analysis in the GATM locus related to chronic kidney disease showed that the frequency of the A allele in...

Overview of, and Preparations for, Dialysis
Med Clin North Am. 2023 Jul;107(4):681-687. doi: 10.1016/j.mcna.2023.03.003. Epub 2023 Apr 14.ABSTRACTChronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition which is defined by decreased kidney function evidenced by a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) less than 60 mL/min per 1.73 m2 or markers of kidney damage, or both, for at least 3 months, regardless of the underlying cause. The 5 stages of CKD are based on the estimated GFR. Patients with CKD have significantly higher rates of morbidity, mortality, hospitalization, and health care utilization. Renal replacement therapy in the form of dialysis or kidney transplant is th...
