Effects of the Type of Intraoperative Fluid in Living Donor Kidney Transplantation: A Single-Center Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Intraoperative Plasma-lyte can lead to more favorable results in terms of acid-base balance during kidney transplantation. Patients who received Plasma-lyte showed superior postoperative graft function at 1 month and 1 year after transplantation. Further studies are needed to evaluate the superiority of intraoperative Plasma-lyte over other types of crystalloids in relation to graft outcomes.PMID:35352890 | PMC:PMC8965431 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.63.4.380

Cerebral blood flow dynamics before, during, and after seizures from epilepsy and the periictal state
Proc (Bayl Univ Med Cent). 2022 Mar 17;35(4):492-497. doi: 10.1080/08998280.2022.2045178. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTChanges in cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the human cerebral cortex during surgery were reported by Penfield. However, data on continuous CBF during seizures were not available until Carter et al developed a subdural CBF probe for measuring continuous CBF. This probe used thermal resistor methodology and was developed to study patients with head trauma. With such a probe, changes in continuous CBF and electroencephalography during and after a seizure were reported by Oommen et al. Such changes were later confirm...
