Combination Therapy with Rituximab, Tofacitinib and Pirfenidone in a Patient with Rapid Progressive Interstitial Lung Disease (RP-ILD) Due to MDA5 Antibody-Associated Dermatomyositis: A Case Report
Medicina (Kaunas). 2021 Dec 13;57(12):1358. doi: 10.3390/medicina57121358.ABSTRACTAnti-melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (MDA5)-positive rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD) is associated with poor prognosis, and the most effective therapeutic intervention has not been established. Herein we report a case of a 45-year-old female patient who presented with myalgia, Gottron's papules with ulceration, and dyspnea on exertion which became aggravated within weeks. Laboratory examination and electromyography confirmed myopathy changes, and a survey of myositis-specific antibodies was strongly positi...

Outcomes and Complications in Management of Congenital Myopathy Early-Onset Scoliosis
Background: Congenital myopathies (CMs) are complex conditions often associated with early-onset scoliosis (EOS). The purpose of this study was to investigate radiographic outcomes in CM patients undergoing EOS instrumentation as well as complications. Secondarily, we sought to compare these patients to a population with higher prevalence, cerebral palsy (CP) EOS patients. Methods: This is a retrospective study of a prospectively collected multicenter registry. The registry was queried for EOS patients with growth-sparing instrumentation (vertical expandable prosthetic titanium ribs, magnetically controlled grow...

Radiological features of cervical spine in dropped head syndrome: a matched case –control study
ConclusionOur results demonstrated that the characteristic radiological features in the cervical spine of DHS include lower-level dominant severe degenerative change and upper-level dominant spondylolisthesis. These findings suggest that degenerative changes in the cervical spine may also play a role in the onset and progression of DHS.

Imaging of Joint and Soft Tissue Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo highlight the potential uses and applications of imaging in the assessment of the most common and relevant musculoskeletal (MSK) manifestations in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).Recent FindingsUltrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are accurate and sensitive in the assessment of inflammation and structural damage at the joint and soft tissue structures in patients with SLE. The US is particularly helpful for the detection of joint and/or tendon inflammation in patients with arthralgia but without clinical synovitis, and for the early identification of bone erosions. MRI plays a...
