ConclusionsThe presence of the clinical symptoms associated with LA exposure and high FeNO levels should prompt further medical assessments in LA workers. Although EBC-H2O2 levels do not seem to reflect eosinophilic inflammation, serum SP-A levels could be used to monitor progression from rhinitis to asthma.

Tobacco smoke exposure in early life and adolescence in relation to lung function
Maternal smoking during pregnancy is associated with impaired lung function among young children, but less is known about long-term effects and the impact of adolescents' own smoking. We investigated the influence of maternal smoking during pregnancy, secondhand smoke exposure and adolescent smoking on lung function at age 16 years. ConclusionsSmall-airway dysfunction is present in patients with chronic cough and BHR. FEF25%-75% has value as a negative predictive parameter for BHR, especially when combined with FENO. FENO> 43 ppb and FEF25%-75% < 78.5% strongly predicted a positive bronchial provocation test.

Asthma and Allergic Disorders in Uganda: A Population-Based Study Across Urban and Rural Settings
ConclusionsAsthma and allergic rhinitis were twice as prevalent in urban settings. Asthma was associated with greater impairment and worse lung function outcomes. We identified a high prevalence of allergic disorders in Uganda, which can be expected to increase due to urbanization and resultant exposures throughout early development.

Exacerbations in Adults with Asthma: A Systematic Review and External Validation of Prediction Models
ConclusionsThe preservation of 3 predictors in models derived from variable populations and the fairly consistent predictive properties of most models in 2 distinct validation populations suggest the feasibility of a generalizable model predicting severe exacerbations. Nevertheless, improvement of the models is warranted because predictive performances are below the desired level.
