Molecular regulation of neuroinflammation in glaucoma: Current knowledge and the ongoing search for new treatment targets
Prog Retin Eye Res. 2021 Aug 1:100998. doi: 10.1016/j.preteyeres.2021.100998. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeuroinflammation relying on the inflammatory responses of glial cells has emerged as an impactful component of the multifactorial etiology of neurodegeneration in glaucoma. It has become increasingly evident that despite early adaptive and reparative features of glial responses, prolonged reactivity of the resident glia, along with the peripheral immune cells, create widespread toxicity to retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons, somas, and synapses. As much as the synchronized responses of astrocytes and microglia to gla...

Video, ergo sum: The search for response to natural light
Cell Stem Cell. 2022 Mar 3;29(3):349-350. doi: 10.1016/j.stem.2022.02.005.ABSTRACTHow "real" can a stem cell-derived human organoid be? In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Saha et al. demonstrate that cone photoreceptors in human stem cell-derived retinal organoids can respond to light not unlike foveal cones of adult primate.PMID:35245464 | DOI:10.1016/j.stem.2022.02.005

OCTA Biomarker Search in Patients with nAMD: Influence of Retinal Fluid on Time-Dependent Biomarker Response
CONCLUSIONS: OCTA-based parameters VA, TVL, TNJ, and MNVarea show a strong response to anti-VEGF therapy over time, independent of the presence of IRF, SRF or RT. We conclude that the above listed OCTA parameters could contribute to our understanding of MNV biology and to guide individualized treatment in the future.TRIAL REGISTRY: The authors confirm that all ongoing and related trials are registered. < em > IMPDH1 < /em > -associated autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa: natural history of novel variant Lys3124Gln and a comprehensive literature search
CONCLUSIONS: We report a novel IMPDH1 variant. IMPDH1-associated retinopathy presents most frequently in the first decade of life with early macular involvement.PMID:37259572 | DOI:10.1080/13816810.2023.2215310
