Biomarkers for Severe Asthma: Lessons From Longitudinal Cohort Studies
Allergy Asthma Immunol Res. 2021 May;13(3):375-389. doi: 10.4168/aair.2021.13.3.375.ABSTRACTSevere asthma (SA) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by uncontrolled symptoms, frequent exacerbations, and lung function decline. The discovery of phenotypes and endotypes of SA significantly improves our understanding of its pathophysiology and allows the advent of biologics blocking multiple molecular targets. The advances have mainly been made in type 2-high asthma associated with elevated type 2 inflammatory biomarkers such as immunoglobulin E (IgE), interleukins (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13. Previous clinical trials have demo...

Lessons from peculiar cases of anaphylaxis: why allergists should be prepared for the unexpected
In this report we aimed to describe less accounted / difficult-to-approach shapes of anaphylaxis to facilitate clinicians to suspect these severe reactions even in uncommon conditions. We choose to present data on anaphylaxis regarding simulation, mode of exposure to sensitizing agents, pregnancy, exposure to animals, intimate behaviour, psychological stress and other situations.PMID:33939345 | DOI:10.23822/EurAnnACI.1764-1489.198
