Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPublic-academic partnership-based program evaluations can generate actionable evidence for policymaking, program design and implementation in improving school-based mental health service delivery. The University of Pennsylvania Center for Mental Health and public behavioral health care agencies in Philadelphia in the United States have evaluated Philadelphia's school mental health programs reimbursable through Medicaid billing since 2008. Healthcare Access for a Diverse Population with Schizophrenia Following the Onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic
We examined the pandemic's impacts among New York State's Medicaid beneficiaries with schizophrenia in the immediate post-pandemic surge period, with a focus on equity of access to critical healthcare. We compared changes in utilization of key behavioral health outpatient services and inpatient services for life-threatening conditions between the pre-pandemic and surge periods for White and non-White beneficiaries. We found racial and ethnic differences across all outcomes, with most differences stable over time. The exception was pneumonia admissions-while no differences existed in the pre-pandemic period, Black and Latin...

Examining the Implementation of Health-Related Social Need (HRSN) Screenings at a Pediatric Community Health Center
CONCLUSIONS: A high rate of screening indicates feasibility of administering HRSN screenings for pediatric patients in a busy FQHC. Comparatively lower rates of screening and potential underreporting among NENS may be indicative of the availability and acceptability of current translation procedures as well as how the tool translates linguistically and culturally. Our experience highlights the need to partner with community organizations and involve patien...

Medicaid Applications Spike during Marketplace Open Enrollment: Lessons from Covered California
J Health Care Poor Underserved. 2022;33(3):1155-1162. doi: 10.1353/hpu.2022.0102.ABSTRACTThe expansion of Medicaid coverage as part of the Affordable Care Act has insured millions of Americans and reduced costly churn in the program. A large increase in Medicaid applications during Marketplace open enrollment would indicate two potential information gaps: 1) individuals do not know that they are eligible, and/or 2) individuals do not know that they can enroll in Medicaid year-round. We used statewide monthly Medicaid applications data for California over a three-year period (July 2016 to June 2019) to assess whether Market...
