Over restrictive elimination of foods in children with food allergy
CONCLUSION: Overall, FA knowledge of pediatricians was fair. Pediatricians utilize an overly restrictive approach when advising diet eliminations in FA. Recent developments favor a more proactive approach to induce immune tolerance and need to be encouraged in pediatric clinical practice. Future educational efforts should focus on emphasizing the deleterious effects of injudicious and extensive eliminations.PMID:33686833 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2021.01.013

Skin Prick Test Practice In Allergy Clinics During Covid-19 Pandemic
Skin prick test (SPT) is a vital tool to confirm sensitization in allergic diseases, making it a daily routine for allergists. Although SPT is not considered an aerosol-generating procedure, the close contact between the patient and the performer may pose a risk for transmitting the disease.1 For Turkish healthcare facilities, the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic started with identifying the first case and continued by a quarantine period (QP), declared at the end of March 2020. At the beginning of June 2020, the Turkish government initiated the second period and named it the “normalization period” (NP).

IgE mediated food allergy in Turkey: different spectrum, similar outcome
CONCLUSIONS: The FA spectrum of Turkish children and adolescents differs from many regions of the world with high rates of TN (hazelnut, Anacardia nuts), seed (sesame, pumpkin seed) and lentils, and low rates of soy, peanut and seafood allergies. However, resolution, emergence and persistence of allergies and comorbidities are similar, which points to the limited role of the environment in the outcome.PMID:34449137 | DOI:10.24953/turkjped.2021.04.002
