AbstractThe upper airways (UA) should be considered as a functional unit. Current functional anatomy divides URT in three, mutually dependent, “junction boxes”: i) the ostio-meatal complex (OMC), ii) the spheno-ethmoidal recess (SER), and iii) the rhinopharynx (RP). Correct ventilation and effective mucociliary clearance of these sites significantly affect the healthy physiology of the entire respiratory system. Oligonucleotides —A Novel Promising Therapeutic Option for IBD
Conclusions In this review, we focused on recent and past approaches to test the therapeutic efficacy of oligonucleotide based therapies in IBD. The combining mechanistic mode of oligonucleotide based therapeutics is a targeted action on specific pro-inflammatory molecules, which are over activated in IBD patients and contribute significantly to disease pathogenesis. Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Chronic Granulomatous Disease: an emerging problem over a twenty years ’ experience
ConclusionsPenetrance of CGD‐IBD increases with age. Clinical manifestations may be subtle, and clinicians should have a low threshold to recommend endoscopy. Treatment with NSAIDs and/or steroids achieves a good response, but relapses usually occur. Infection surveillance is mandatory during treatment, in order to prevent opportunistic infections.
