Prevalence and associated factors of allergic diseases in school children and adolescents aged 6-7 and 13-14 years from two rural areas in Colombia
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of allergic diseases in this rural pediatric population was lower compared with that of the previous reports from urban populations. Associated factors found in this study support previous studies. Research addressing modifiable environmental associations is so far scarce in Latin America; further studies are needed to reduce the burden of these diseases in rural populations.PMID:33938201 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v49i3.183

Allergies in children due to early food consumption in Barranquilla, Colombia.
CONCLUSIONS : The analyzed foods showed that fish is related and associated as a protective factor for eczema, while the consumption of cow's milk was related as a protective factor for rhinitis. Regarding other foods and allergies, the study is not conclusive as to whether their early intake is a predisposing factor or trigger in children. PMID: 30569998 [PubMed - in process]

Quality of life and clinical characterization of patients with vernal keratoconjunctivitis in a pediatric population in Colombia.
CONCLUSION: The vernal keratoconjunctivitis is a disease more prevalent in men. It apparently has an important atopic base in our environment, which due to its severe ocular involvement causes a marked decrease in the quality of life of the children who present it.
