Targeting Hypertensive Response To Exercise And The Association Of Masked Hypertension With Subclinical Organ Damage : A Mini-Review And Meta-Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of this, albeit limited, evidence, the diagnostic work-up in individuals with HRE should primarily be addressed to look for MH as well as for markers of HMOD, a highly prevalent alteration in MH.PMID:37195645 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpad049

Association of visceral adiposity index with asymptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis: a population-based study in Shandong, China
CONCLUSIONS: The possible correlation between VAI and aICAS was found to be positive for the first time among Chinese rural residents over 40 years old. A higher VAI was found to be significantly associated with aICAS among the participants who were underweight or normal weight, and these results may provide additional risk stratification information for aICAS.PMID:37198613 | DOI:10.1186/s12944-023-01831-1

Rational clinical approach to transient ischaemic attack, stroke and associated mimics: A retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: The present study demonstrated that specific clinical features and risk factors were associated with the final diagnosis at TIA clinic. These clinical features may assist with diagnosis of TIA in centres without access to a vascular neurologist.PMID:37190670 | DOI:10.1111/1742-6723.14238

Cytomegalovirus and cardiovascular disease: a hypothetical role for viral G protein-coupled receptors in hypertension
Am J Hypertens. 2023 May 6:hpad045. doi: 10.1093/ajh/hpad045. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCytomegalovirus (CMV) is a member of the β- herpesviruses and is ubiquitous, infecting 50-99% of the human population depending on ethnic and socioeconomic conditions. CMV establishes lifelong, latent infections in their host. Spontaneous reactivation of CMV is usually asymptomatic, but reactivation events in immunocompromised or immunosuppressed individuals can lead to severe morbidity and mortality. Moreover, herpesvirus infections have been associated with several cardiovascular and post-transplant diseases (stroke, atherosclero...

Po-05-169 ventricular scar by cardiac mri is a predictor of atrial fibrillation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) increases risk of stroke and mortality. The reported prevalence of AF in HCM ranges from 18% to 28%, which is higher than the general population; even after accounting for traditional risk factors including obesity, hypertension, and age. Several factors increase risk of AF in HCM including left atrial size and the presence of ventricular obstruction. However, there is paucity of data correlating ventricular late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) to the incidence of AF in HCM.

Association of Dental Infections with Intracranial Atherosclerotic Stenosis
CONCLUSION: We report significant associations between mild-moderate tooth loss, severe tooth loss and severe PD with <50% ICAS as well as an association between gingivitis and ≥50% ICAS. We did not find an association between dental caries and ICAS.PMID:37121226 | DOI:10.1159/000530829
