Combining clinical predictors to better predict for the no-reflow phenomenon.
CONCLUSIONS: We have found that the combination of a CHA2DS2-VASc score and a pre-PCI thrombus load score was more sensitive in detecting the no-reflow phenomenon than only a CHA2DS2-VASc score in patients who underwent PPCIs for STEMIs. PMID: 30070335 [PubMed - in process]

Epicardial Coronary Spasm in Women With Angina Pectoris and Unobstructed Coronary Arteries Is Linked With a Positive Family History: An Observational Study.
Abstract PURPOSE: Coronary spasm is frequently found in patients with angina and unobstructed coronaries. The pathophysiology is incompletely understood, although sex differences have been described. Often a positive family history (PFH) is encountered. We assessed the relationship between sex, coronary spasm, and a PFH for cardiovascular disease. METHODS: This single-center observational study recruited 415 stable angina patients with unobstructed coronaries (no stenosis >50%) between 2008 and 2011 (mean [SD] age, 62 [10] years; 38% men). Patients were referred for angiography because of signs and symptom...

A literature review of hypertensive retinopathy: systemic correlations and new technologies
CONCLUSIONS: The eye is the only organ in the human body where changes in the blood vessels due to systemic hypertension can be studied in vivo. All doctors should be familiar with this disease because it has been largely demonstrated that signs of HR are correlated to patient's health and mortality. Researchers should develop a new common, standardized, and objective method to assess hypertensive retinal changes; new technologies may have a significant role in this field. This review takes most of the literature published so far, including the OCTA studies in order to stimulate new points of reference to standardize param...

Predictive performance of CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score and Framingham risk scores for coronary disease severity in ischemic heart disease patients with invasive coronary angiography
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated a high predictive performance of coronary artery injury using the CHA2DS2-VASc-HS score and Framingham risk scores. These scores could be applied in predicting ischemic heart disease in non-symptomatic cases where invasive coronary angiography is not indicated.GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT: https://www.europeanreview.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/Graphical-abstract-4.jpg.PMID:37667940 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33415
