Drip and Ship Thrombolytic Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke: Use, Temporal Trends, and Outcomes Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Drip and ship tPA is common, used in 1 in 4 patients treated with tPA in the United States. Modest differences in mortality and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage may be because of patient selection bias, post-tPA care differences, or unmeasured confounding. The drip and ship paradigm may facilitate widespread tPA use in patients with acute stroke.

Different Antiplatelet Strategies in Patients With New Ischemic Stroke While Taking Aspirin Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— This study showed that, compared with maintaining aspirin, switching to or adding alternative antiplatelet agents may be better in preventing subsequent vascular events in patients who experienced a new ischemic stroke while taking aspirin.

Intravenous Thrombolysis in Patients Dependent on the Daily Help of Others Before Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— IVT-treated stroke patients who were dependent on the daily help of others before stroke carry a higher mortality risk than previously independent patients. The risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and the likelihood of poor outcome were not independently influenced by previous dependency. Among survivors, poor outcome was avoided at least as effectively in previously dependent patients. Thus, withholding IVT in previously dependent patients might not be justified.

Outcomes of Argatroban Treatment in Patients With Atherothrombotic Stroke: Observational Nationwide Study in Japan Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The present study suggested that argatroban was safe, but had no added benefit in early outcomes after acute atherothrombotic stroke.

Ultrasonographic measurements of the metacarpal and talar cartilage thicknesses in hemiplegic patients after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: We may conclude that metacarpal (but not talar) cartilage is thinner on the paretic side of stroke patients that seems to be less with better motor functioning. PMID: 27159891 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Clinical Pregenetic Screening for Stroke Monogenic Diseases: Results From Lombardia GENS Registry Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In patients prescreened using a clinical algorithm for monogenic disorders, we identified monogenic causes of events in 7% of patients in comparison to the 1% to 5% prevalence reported in previous series.

Early Rivaroxaban Use After Cardioembolic Stroke May Not Result in Hemorrhagic Transformation: A Prospective Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study Brief Reports
Conclusions— These data support the safety of rivaroxaban initiation ≤14 days of mild–moderate cardioembolic stroke/transient ischemic attack. Magnetic resonance imaging evidence of petechial HT, which is common, does not appear to increase the risk of symptomatic HT.

Uric Acid Therapy Prevents Early Ischemic Stroke Progression Brief Report
Conclusions—UA therapy may prevent EIW after acute stroke in thrombolysed patients. Proportional Motor Recovery After Stroke Brief Report
Conclusions—Recovery of motor impairment in patients with intact CST is proportional to initial impairment and unaffected by previous stroke, type of stroke, or upper-limb therapy dose. Novel interventions that interact with the neurobiological mechanisms of recovery are needed. The generalizability of proportional recovery is such that patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and previous stroke may usefully be included in interventional rehabilitation trials.Clinical Trial Registration—URL: http://www.anzctr.org.au. Baseline Hemodynamic Impairment and Future Stroke Risk in Adult Idiopathic Moyamoya Phenomenon Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—The risk of new or recurrent stroke was lower than expected. The low event rate, low prevalence of increased OEF, and potential selection bias introduced by revascularization surgery limit strong conclusions about the association of increased OEF and future stroke risk.Clinical Trial Registration—URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Predictors for Symptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage After Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Incidence of SICH after thrombectomy is higher in Asian patients with acute ischemic stroke. Cardioembolic stroke, poor collateral circulation, delayed endovascular treatment, multiple passes with stent retriever device, lower pretreatment Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score, higher baseline neutrophil ratio may increase the risk of SICH.
