NIHSS score at admission can predict functional outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke undergoing carotid endarterectomy
The aim of present study was to evaluate the prognostic impact of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score in patients undergoing acute CEA, and to assess clinical and morphological factors that could predict worse outcomes.

National Institutes of Health stroke scale score at admission can predict functional outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke undergoing carotid endarterectomy
The aim of present study was to evaluate the prognostic effect of the National Institutes of Health stroke scale (NIHSS) score for patients who had undergone acute carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and assess the clinical and morphologic factors that could predict for worse outcomes.

Revascularisation for Symptomatic Peripheral Artery Disease: External Applicability of the VOYAGER PAD Trial
CONCLUSION: Among patients in routine clinical practice, 27.1% were eligible for the VOYAGER PAD trial. These patients were older, had more severe vascular symptoms, higher bleeding risk, and worse prognosis than trial participants.PMID:34924303 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.10.026

Neurologic Outcomes of Carotid and Other Emergent Interventions for Ischemic Stroke Over 6  Years With Analysis Enhanced by Machine Learning
Despite continued evolution in treatment, stroke continues to represent one of the most common and debilitating diseases patients suffer. We created a novel machine-learning natural language processing algorithm to assist in performing outcomes research for patients undergoing treatment for stroke. This method enhanced our ability to accurately determine neurologic outcomes for all urgent stroke interventions. Results demonstrate stroke severity and functional neurologic outcomes for all ischemic stroke patients undergoing (1) urgent carotid endarterectomy (uCEA)/urgent carotid artery stenting (uCAS), (2) tissue plasminoge...

Asymptomatic Patients With a Remote History of Transient Ischemic Attack or Stroke May Benefit From Reduced Hazard of In-hospital Death After Transcarotid Artery Revascularization
Asymptomatic patients with remote history of transient ischemic attack (TIA) or stroke are not well-studied as a separate population from asymptomatic patients with no prior history of TIA or stroke. We compared in-hospital outcomes following transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) and transfemoral carotid artery stenting (TFCAS) among symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with and without a history of TIA or stroke.

Revascularisation for Symptomatic Peripheral Artery Disease: External Applicability of the VOYAGER PAD Trial
This study described the proportion of patients eligible for VOYAGER PAD within the nationwide Danish Vascular Registry (DVR), reasons for ineligibility, and outcomes according to eligibility.

Carotid Endarterectomy After Intracranial Endovascular Thrombectomy for Acute Ischaemic Stroke in Patients with Carotid Artery Stenosis
CONCLUSION: These results indicate that CEA is safe to perform after previous successful EVT for acute ischaemic stroke. Results were comparable with those undergoing CEA only, despite the EVT+CEA patients having more severe stroke symptoms prior to surgery, and timing was similar.PMID:34887207 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.10.034
