Imaging and Baseline Predictors of Cognitive Performance in Minor Ischemic Stroke and Patients With Transient Ischemic Attack at 90 Days Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Despite average-range cognitive performance in this TIA and population with minor stroke, we found associations of EF and PS with evidence of previous stroke, postevent disability, and depression.

Home-based telesurveillance and rehabilitation after stroke: a real-life study.
CONCLUSION: The home-based program was feasible and effective in both sub-acute and chronic post-stroke patients, improving their recovery, and maintaining the benefits reached during inpatient rehabilitation. PMID: 27078116 [PubMed - in process]

Informal caregivers' burden and stress in caring for stroke survivors with spatial neglect: an exploratory mixed-method study.
CONCLUSIONS: This exploratory study suggests that spatial neglect may heighten caregivers' burden and stress levels. Future studies with a large sample size are required. PMID: 27216085 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Delirium post-stroke: short- to long-term effect on anxiety and depression compared to effect on cognition.
Conclusion Delirium may not have a significant effect on the development of anxiety or depression after stroke which differs in its effect on cognitive function and functional status. PMID: 28938851 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The relationship between BDNF Val66Met polymorphism and functional mobility in chronic stroke survivors.
Conclusions Our results suggest that the Val66Met polymorphism does not predict long-term, functional mobility following stroke. This difference may be due to differences in model variables or a reduced impact of the polymorphism as recovery progresses. PMID: 29480080 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Stigma experienced by Chinese patients with stroke during inpatient rehabilitation and its correlated factors: a cross-sectional study.
CONCLUSIONS: Stigma was moderate, and internalized stigma may be more apparent; therefore, physicians should pay more attention to patients who report or show signs of experiencing stroke-related stigma. PMID: 31104577 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Psychometric properties of an Arabic version of the fatigue severity scale in patients with stroke.
Conclusions: The FSS-A showed good psychometric properties suggesting its usefulness as a fatigue evaluation tool in patients diagnosed with stroke. PMID: 31189456 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Clinical factors associated with the development of nonuse learned after stroke: a prospective study.
Conclusion: Age, severity of stroke, incapacity and neuromuscular and sensory compromises are associated with upper extremity learned nonuse in stroke patients. PMID: 31230583 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Psychosocial interventions for stroke survivors, carers and survivor-carer dyads: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Conclusion: Psychosocial interventions reduced depressive symptoms in stroke survivors and their carers. There was limited evidence that such interventions reduced anxiety symptoms, or improved quality of life and coping for stroke survivors and carers and no evidence that they improved self-efficacy, carer strain or carer satisfaction. Community cycling exercise for stroke survivors is feasible and acceptable.
Conclusion: A cycling-based exercise program delivered through local leisure center staff and facilities was shown to be feasible and acceptable for people living with stroke. PMID: 31327311 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Objective and subjective sleep problems and quality of life of rehabilitation in patients with mild to moderate stroke.
Conclusion: Objective sleep parameters (sleep onset latency and sleep efficiency) were found to be associated with quality of life during the early stage of rehabilitation in mild to moderate stroke patients. PMID: 31618116 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A psychosocial intervention for stroke survivors and carers: 12-month outcomes of a randomized controlled trial.
Conclusion: A personalized psychosocial intervention resulted in a significant improvement in carer satisfaction at 6 months but in no other outcomes. A lack of available services and barriers to social engagement may have impeded the effectiveness of this intervention. PMID: 32191569 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Subacute ischemic stroke rehabilitation outcomes in working-age adults: The role of aphasia in cognitive functional independence.
CONCLUSIONS: We identified no significant differences in C-FIM outcomes (gain, efficiency and effectiveness) either in LOS between PWA and patients without aphasia, though C-FIM differences were significant at admission and discharge. Aphasia was a significant predictor of C-FIM gain and C-FIM at discharge. PMID: 32967590 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cognitive predictors of a performance-based measure of instrumental activities of daily living following stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Cognitive functioning is significantly associated with IADL functioning post-stroke, and considering multiple domains of cognitive functioning together largely explains the performance of IADLs. PMID: 33073728 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
