Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIssue: Noting high rates of burnout, depression, and suicidality among medical students, academic medical communities are trying to identify preventive and curricular measures that protect and promote student well-being. To date, the effectiveness of these efforts is unclear. In addition, evidence increasingly suggests that the major drivers of distress appear to be factors within the social, learning, and work environments. Specific to medical schools in the United States, neither the Liaison Committee on Medical Education ...

Medical Assistance in Dying: A Point of Care Educational Framework For Attending Physicians.
Abstract Issue: Medical assistance in dying (MAID) became legal in Quebec on December 10, 2015, and in the rest of Canada on June 17, 2016. This enabled 6,749 deaths through physician-assisted suicide or euthanasia between December 10, 2015 and October 31, 2018. While the death of a patient is a common experience for medical trainees, those that occur through MAID have unique features related to the methods, the timeline, the intended role of the physician in causing the death, and the request of the patient that initiates the process. These aspects necessitate a distinct approach to MAID medical education. Eviden...

It is no surprise that the socioeconomic gaps and gaps for special learners have widened. The medical profession and other professions that te...
