Transient left bundle branch block associated with very high coronary artery calcium: a case report
We present a case of very high CAC in a 64-year-old woman with hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia presenting with dyspnea. Initial electrocardiogram (ECG) demonstrated normal conduction with a heart rate of 76 beats/min, but new T-wave inversions in V1-V4 and a high-sensitivity troponin-I (hsTnI) value of 6 ng/L (normal < 6 ng/L). Repeat ECG in the emergency department showed normal sinus rhythm (heart rate of 80 beats/min); however, it subsequently demonstrated a left bundle branch block (LBBB) with a repeat hsTnI of 7 ng/L. Stress testing with pharmacologic single-photon emission computerized tomography...

Early Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography and Preventative Treatment in Patients with Suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome A secondary analysis of the RAPID-CTCA trial
CONCLUSIONS: Prescription patterns of preventative treatment varied during index hospitalisation in patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome. Early CTCA facilitated targeted individualisation of these therapies based on the extent of coronary artery disease.PMID:37709109 | DOI:10.1016/j.ahj.2023.09.003

Association of oxidized ApoB and oxidized ApoA-I with high-risk coronary plaque features in cardiovascular disease
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that the investigated OMLs are associated with high-risk coronary plaque features and progression over time in CVD patients.TRIAL REGISTRATION: URL: https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov. Comparison of the effect of uric acid/albumin ratio on coronary colleteral circulation with other inflammation-based markers in stable coronary artery disease patients
CONCLUSION: UAR was identified as a strong and independent predictor of CCC. In this context, UAR may be a useful biomarker in the risk prediction of patients with stable CAD.PMID:37674333 | DOI:10.1177/02676591231202105

Correlation between serum soluble ASGR1 concentration and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: The serum sASGR1 concentration was positively correlated with LDL-C levels. In addition, hypertension status significantly affected the effect of serum sASGR1 on LDL-C levels. This study provides some research ideas for clinical doctors and researchers, as well as some references for additional research on serum sASGR1.PMID:37667265 | DOI:10.1186/s12944-023-01910-3

Association of Soluble Markers of Inflammation With Peri-coronary Artery Inflammation in People With and Without HIV Infection and Without Cardiovascular Disease
CONCLUSIONS: The associations between indices of systemic and peri-coronary inflammation are novel and suggest that these systemic markers and FAI together are promising noninvasive biomarkers that can be applied to assess asymptomatic CVD in people with and without HIV; they also may be useful tools to evaluate effects of anti-inflammatory interventions.PMID:37636516 | PMC:PMC10460251 | DOI:10.1093/ofid/ofad328

Influence of atherosclerotic burden on adult patients with ischemic moyamoya disease: combined analysis of two prospective cohorts
CONCLUSIONS: Adult patients with ischemic MMD who do not exhibit angiographic disease progression appear more strongly affected by atherosclerotic burden at the initial onset of cerebrovascular events than those exhibiting angiographic disease progression. A reduction in atherosclerotic burden by medical treatments for the former patients prevents further cerebrovascular events.PMID:37634169 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2252285

Coronary CT angiography and coronary atherosclerosis : Where do we stand today?
Herz. 2023 Aug 25. doi: 10.1007/s00059-023-05207-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiac computed tomography (CT) has made substantial progress in recent years. The main field of application is CT coronary angiography for visualization of the coronary arteries and for the detection and exclusion of coronary artery stenosis. This has been included in international guidelines for the management of stable coronary artery disease or chronic coronary syndrome as well as for the diagnostic work-up of patients with acute chest pain; however, it must be taken into account that the diagnostic validity is only sufficiently high whe...

Impact of age on pre-procedural TIMI flow in STEMI patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention
CONCLUSION: The present study shows that among STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI, more advanced age represents an independent predictor of preprocedural IRA patency. Future studies will define the implications on procedural results and long-term prognosis.PMID:37605955 | DOI:10.2459/JCM.0000000000001482

Quantitative imaging biomarkers of coronary plaque morphology: insights from EVAPORATE
CONCLUSION: Plaques in the IPE-treated patients acquired more characteristics of stability. Reliable assessment using histologically validated analysis of individual response is possible at 9 months, with sustained stabilization at 18 months, providing a quantitative basis to elucidate drug mechanism and assess individual patient response.PMID:37600044 | PMC:PMC10435977 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1204071
