Adherence to oral anticoagulation in ischemic stroke patients with atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Adherence was poor in half of AF patients who survived an ischaemic stroke. Effect of Variation in Published Stroke Rates on the Net Clinical Benefit of Anticoagulation for Atrial Fibrillation.
Conclusion: Variation in published AF stroke rates for patients not receiving anticoagulant therapy results in multifold variation in the net clinical benefit of anticoagulation. ConclusionsIn AF patients taking VKAs, high SFMC levels were associated with the risk of adverse cardiovascular events, cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality. The addition of SFMC to the CHA2DS2-VASc score improved its predictive performance for these outcomes, but failed to show an improvement in clinical usefulness.

Vitamin K and non-vitamin K antagonists oral anticoagulants for non-valvular atrial fibrillation in real-life.
CONCLUSION: Patients given rivaroxaban and apixaban in clinical practice have a higher thrombotic and hemorrhagic risk in comparison with patients given dabigatran or VKAs. A considerable proportion of patients receive reduced doses of NOACs. PMID: 27394924 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
