Causal Association of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Glycemic Traits With Cardiovascular Diseases and Lipid Traits: A Mendelian Randomization Study
CONCLUSION: We provided evidence for the causal effects of T2DM and glycemic traits on the risk of CVDs and dyslipidemia. Further investigations to elucidate the underlying mechanisms are warranted.PMID:35528012 | PMC:PMC9072667 | DOI:10.3389/fendo.2022.840579

Cardiovascular Outcomes in Sleep-Disordered Breathing: Are We Under-estimating?
Obstructive sleep apnea is a growing health concern, affecting nearly one billion people worldwide; increasingly recognized as an independent cardiovascular risk factor associated with incident obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, arrhythmias, stroke, coronary artery disease, and heart failure. The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea could be underestimated in the previous studies, leading to only modest predictions of cardiovascular outcomes. Using more physiologic data will increase sensitivity for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. Individuals at high risk of obstructive sleep apnea should be identified s...

Efficacy of Lower Doses of Pioglitazone after Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack In Patients with Insulin Resistance
CONCLUSIONS: Lower doses of pioglitazone appear to confer much of the benefit with less adverse effects than the full dose. Further study is needed to confirm these findings so that clinicians may optimize dosing of this secondary prevention strategy in stroke patients. This article is protected by copyright. Revised cardiac score index is a predictor of long-term outcomes after carotid endarterectomy
Conclusion: RCRI and CtRCRI did not predict MACE in the perioperative period but are good predictors of 30-day complications (Clavien-Dindo ≥2). Both RCRI and CtRCRI have good prognostic value as predictors of long-term cardiovascular events.PMID:35171024 | DOI:10.1024/0301-1526/a000988
