Resting Heart Rate and Ischemic Stroke in Patients with Heart Failure
This study is aimed at investigating the relationship between RHR and ischemic stroke in patients with heart failure in sinus rhythm.Methods: We examined 2,060 patients with systolic heart failure in sinus rhythm from the Warfarin versus Aspirin in Reduced Cardiac Ejection Fraction trial. RHR was determined from baseline electrocardiogram, and was examined as both a continuous variable and a categorical variable using quartiles. Management and 1-Year Outcomes of Patients With Atrial Fibrillation in the Middle East: Gulf Survey of Atrial Fibrillation Events
We describe management and outcomes of patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) in the Middle East. Consecutive patients with AF presenting to emergency departments (EDs) were prospectively enrolled. Among 1721 patients with nonvalvular AF, mean age was 59 ± 16 years and 44% were women. Comorbidities were common such as hypertension (59%), diabetes (33%), and coronary artery disease (33%).
