Cardiac Myxoma With Unusual Obstructive and Embolic Presentations: Concurrent Stroke and Angiography-Negative Myocardial Infarction—A Case Report
We present a case of cardiac myxoma with atypical presentations of concurrent stroke and angiography-negative myocardial infarction. The case emphasizes the importance of basic echocardiography and timely surgery in the management of cardiac myxoma. An elderly woman presented to the emergency department in an unconscious state. Electrocardiogram and elevated cardiac enzymes suggested acute myocardial infarction; however, immediate coronary angiography proved patency. Basic echocardiography revealed an oscillating left atrial myxoma obstructing inflow through the mitral valve. After regaining consciousness while in the inte...

Determinants of Stroke Following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Acute Myocardial Infarction (from ORPKI Polish National Registry)
Both hemorrhagic and ischemic cerebrovascular events are rare but serious complications after acute myocardial infarction (MI) and coronary angiography / percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The most threatening one is intracranial hemorrhage related to antiplatelet and antithrombotic treatment of acute MI. In up to 10% of patients with acute MI ischemic stroke can result from embolisation of intraventricular or intraatrial thrombi [1]. It may occur within the first 2weeks, but also as early as in the first 24h.

Carotid artery stenting for vulnerable plaques on MR angiography and ultrasonography: utility of dual protection and blood aspiration method
Conclusions The combination of dual protection and blood aspiration could provide effective distal embolic protection although vulnerable plaques on TOF-MRA and US had a high incidence of debris during CAS. Thus, CAS using dual protection and blood aspiration is safe in patients with vulnerable plaques.

Ischemic stroke related to spontaneous.
In conclusion, in patients presenting with an ischemic cerebral accident, meticulous cardiac examination must be performed even in young women with no cardiovascular risk factors given that the occurrence of hematoma or coronary dissection may contribute to the formation of mural thrombi in the setting of myocardial infarction. Cardiac MRI seems to be particularly effective in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction complicated by the presence of intracavitary thrombi. PMID: 29096901 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy with transient global amnesia and cerebellar embolic stroke triggered by existential fear
Conclusions TGA is not a disease for the neurologists exclusively but also cardiac comorbidities have to be considered and cardiologists should be involved in the acute care of these patients in order not to overlook life-threatening diseases.

Early ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction after thrombolytic therapy for acute ischemic stroke: A case report
We report a case of STEMI occurring 40 minutes after thrombolytic therapy for AIS and discuss the possible mechanisms and therapeutic approaches. Patient concerns: A 87-year-old woman with a history of arterial hypertension was admitted for acute onset of right-sided limb weakness 2 hours before arrival at the emergency department. Forty minutes after intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (i.v. rtPA) administration for AIS, STEMI occurred (signaled by a third-degree atrioventricular block). Diagnoses: The diagnoses were AIS and STEMI. Coronary angiography confirmed right coronary artery occlusion. ...

An unusual case of takayasu arteritis presenting as acute myocardial infarction and ischaemic stroke
CONCLUSION: This disease should be considered in female patients who present with chronic inflammation and acute coronary syndrome.PMID:36791035 | PMC:PMC9766845 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v39i3.12688
