Composite Dialysis, Paralysis, Stroke, or Mortality After Endovascular Aortic Interventions in the Society for Vascular Surgery Vascular Quality Initiative
Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm life-altering events, which include a combination of permanent dialysis, permanent spinal cord ischemia, stroke, and/or death, have devastating effects after complex endovascular repair. However, the occurrence of these life-altering events after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has not been studied. Therefore, we examined the effects of procedural and anatomic characteristics on a composite outcome of postoperative dialysis, stroke, paralysis, and/or mortality after any endovascular aortic repair.

Open versus endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm: Incidence of cardiovascular events in 632 patients in a department of defense cohort over 6-year follow-up.
CONCLUSION: EVAR was associated with lower 30-day mortality rates; however, this benefit was not sustained in longer-term follow-up. There is no difference in the rates of stroke, myocardial infarction, or cardiac arrhythmia at 30 days or in long-term follow-up. PMID: 25134851 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Long-Term Experience of Endovascular Repair for Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms and Dissections
Conclusion: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair is a relatively safe and effective therapy for different aortic pathologies with good long-term success. The risk of stroke and paraparesis is notable whether the LSA is covered, and strokes clearly accumulate in the emergency setting. A type I endoleak is the most common complication, but there are no predictive factors for its development.

Current and future perspectives in the repair of aneurysms involving the aortic arch.
Abstract The repair of aneurysms involving the aortic arch is technically and physiologically demanding. Outcome After Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm: A National Multicentre Study.
CONCLUSIONS: This nationwide multicentre study of patients with rDTAA undergoing TEVAR showed acceptable short- but poor long-term survival. Adequate proximal and distal aortic sealing zones are important for technical success. The importance of and current trends in the endovascular program – A single center experience
Conclusion In the AAA group, the percentage of EVAR stabilized during the last 5 years at about 32% of the total number of treated patients. Given the excellent results of open carotid surgery and the unconvincing results of stenting trials, we consider open carotid surgery to be better than carotid artery primary stenting.

Urgent Endovascular Treatment for Non-traumatic Descending Thoracic Aortic Rupture
ConclusionEndoluminal repair of non-traumatic rupture of the descending thoracic aorta can be performed percutaneously. It showed a 30-day mortality of 18.1%, and no spinal cord injury or renal complications were observed in surviving patients at follow-up.Level of EvidenceLevel 4, case series.

Association of Iso-Osmolar vs Low-Osmolar Contrast Media With Major Adverse Renal or Cardiovascular Events in Patients at High Risk for Acute Kidney Injury Undergoing Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
CONCLUSIONS: Use of IOCM vs LOCM in patients at high risk of AKI undergoing EVAR procedures was associated with a lower risk of MARCE. As prevention of AKI or cardiovascular events after EVAR procedures may lead to reduced morbidity and mortality, this finding may have important clinical implications and should be confirmed through randomized controlled clinical studies.PMID:34280892
