Peripheral Artery Disease on The Prognosis Value of Patients with Stable Coronary Artery Disease Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Retrospective, Single-Center Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: PAD is a significant mediator for the prognosis of patients with stable CAD who underwent PCI treatment.PMID:34730491 | DOI:10.1532/hsf.4211

Isolated Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients with Small Aortic Annulus-A High-Risk Group on Long-Term Follow-Up.
Conclusion Patients with small aortic annulus are predominantly small, obese, and old-aged females with multiple comorbidities. Mitroflow valve avoids prosthesis-patient mismatch and provides excellent hemodynamics. Observed long-term results were disappointing, but they were mainly limited by extracardiac comorbidities and advanced age. PMID: 23258763 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Five‐year clinical follow‐up of a randomized comparison of a polymer‐free sirolimus‐eluting stent versus a polymer‐based paclitaxel‐eluting stent in patients with diabetes mellitus (LIPSIA Yukon trial)
Conclusion At 5 years of follow‐up, clinical outcome was similar between the polymer‐free sirolimus‐eluting Yukon Choice stent and the polymer‐based paclitaxel‐eluting Taxus Liberté stent. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Comparing coronary artery bypass grafting with drug-eluting stenting in patients with diabetes mellitus and multivessel coronary artery disease: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS Percutaneous coronary intervention with DES in patients with diabetes and multivessel CAD is safe, but has a high risk of long-term repeat revascularization. CABG should remain the standard procedure for diabetic patients with multivessel CAD.

Long-term outcomes of angiographically confirmed coronary stent thrombosis: results from a multicentre California registry.
CONCLUSIONS: Age, active smoking, diabetes mellitus and bifurcation disease are independently associated with long-term MACCE over a five-year follow-up period. PMID: 26093838 [PubMed - in process]

Outcomes of Open Repair of Mycotic Descending Thoracic and Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Conclusions Open repair of mycotic descending thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms remains the gold standard of therapy. Aggressive intraoperative debridement with in situ prosthetic reconstruction permits a high rate of success in this very high risk cohort of patients. Lifelong antibiotic suppression therapy may prevent late prosthetic graft infection.

A Probable Life-Saving Switch from Apixaban to Phenprocoumon.
Abstract The direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban are increasingly prescribed in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients, although dosage in elderly patients, safety in chronic kidney disease, food- and drug-interactions, laboratory tests for monitoring, and antidote are not clarified. In a 78-year-old man with an acute stroke, paroxysmal AF and sick-sinus-syndrome were detected as he received a DDD-pacemaker and 5 mg apixaban/bid. He had a history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, sleep apnea, lumbar discopathy, and nephropathy. Renal function deterio...
