Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Dual Versus Single Antiplatelet Therapy in Carotid Interventions.
CONCLUSIONS: Dual antiplatelet therapy demonstrates advantages over single therapy only in CAS, as indicated by a reduced risk of TIA. Dual antiplatelet therapy was associated with an increased risk of bleeding complications in patients undergoing CEA. PMID: 27894896 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Catheter-directed interventions compared with systemic thrombolysis achieve improved ventricular function recovery at a potentially lower complication rate for acute pulmonary embolism
Conclusions CDIs provide improved recovery of right ventricular function compared with ST. Major bleeding and stroke complications may be lower, but larger studies are needed to validate this. CDIs are complementary to ST, and their use should be individualized on the basis of the patients' clinical presentation, risk profile, and local resources.

Does surgical technique influence the postoperative hemodynamic disturbances and neurological outcomes in carotid endarterectomy?
CONCLUSIONS: E-CEA was associated with significant reduction in operative time and cross-clamping time however, increases postoperative bleeding. No difference was noted for postoperative stroke and blood pressure distortion between E-CEA and C-CEA. PMID: 29701500 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Outcome After Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm: A National Multicentre Study.
CONCLUSIONS: This nationwide multicentre study of patients with rDTAA undergoing TEVAR showed acceptable short- but poor long-term survival. Adequate proximal and distal aortic sealing zones are important for technical success. High risk patients and post-operative complications need to be further addressed in an effort to improve outcome. PMID: 30910493 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Synchronous versus staged carotid artery stenting and coronary artery bypass graft for patients with concomitant severe coronary and carotid artery stenosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: The simultaneous approach was associated with an increased risk of 30-day stroke compared to staged CAS and CABG. However, no statistically significant difference was found in long-term results of mortality, MI and stroke between the two approaches. Future studies are warranted to validate our results. Efficacy and safety of DOACs in patients with peripheral arterial disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Based on current evidence, no significant difference in cardiovascular death, stroke, myocardial infraction, MACE, and amputation was found when DOACs were compared to antiplatelet monotherapy. The benefits of preventing target lesion revascularization and acute limb ischemia were balanced by amplified risk of major bleeding. Larger randomized controlled trials are needed to figure out the uncertainty around efficacy and safety of medications for peripheral arterial disease. Mechanical versus bioprosthetic valves in chronic dialysis: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Mechanical valves were associated with reduced mortality, but increased rate of bleeding and stroke. Given very low certainty for evidence of mortality and stroke outcomes, patients and clinicians may choose prosthetic valves based on factors such as bleeding risk and valve longevity.STUDY REGISTRATION: PROSPERO no.
