Velico Medical raises another $19m for Frontline ODP spray-dried plasma
Velico Medical said today that it raised another $19 million for the Frontline ODP spray-dried plasma product it’s developing.
Beverly, Mass.-base Velico said the $18.9 million contribution comes from the U.S. Health & Human Services Dept.’s Biomedical Advanced Research & Development Authority. It’s the third option under a contract with Velico that runs through November 2019, taking BARDA’s funding of the company to a total of $46.5 million.

Cardiva Medical wins expanded FDA indications for Vascade vascular closure system
Cardiva Medical said today it won expanded indications from the FDA for its Vascade vascular closure system, now cleared for use in 5-7F femoral venous closures in addition to arterial closure.
The Vascade system is composed of a thrombogenic bioabsorbable collagen patch and a collapsible mesh disc, the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said.

Inari Medical wins FDA 510(k) for FlowTriever
Inari Medical said today it won FDA 510(k) clearance for its FlowTriever stent retriever designed to treat pulmonary embolisms.
The clearance came based upon results from the company’s Flare clinical study of the device, which examined data from 106 patients with acute pulmonary embolisms treated with the FlowTriever at 18 US sites, the Irvine, Calif.-based company said.
Results from the study indicated a decrease in mean RV/LV ratio from baseline of 1.53 to 1.15 at 48 hours post-procedure. Data also indicated excellent safety at 30 days with a 3.8% rate of major adverse events and no device related complications.
