Melatonin reduces exo-endocytosis in mast cells, making it a useful therapeutic tool in inflammatory diseases
Mast cells were previously known for their role in the type I hypersensitivity responses of the Gell and Coombs 1963 classification, where they are activated by immune complexes, FcRI – IgE – allergens, on their cell surface. However, the function of mast cells is much broader than hypersensitivity, being considered tissue sentinels of the immune system1. Many other stimuli, such as IgG, TLR, neuropeptides, cytokines, or chemicals such as compound 48/80 or PMACI [PMA (phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate) plus CI (calcium ionophore A23187)] can trigger the selective release of vasoactive mediators and stimulate proliferatio...

Exercise Reduces Airway Smooth Muscle Contraction in Asthmatic Rats via Inhibition of IL-4 Secretion and Store-Operated Ca < sup > 2+ < /sup > Entry Pathway
CONCLUSIONS: The data in this study reveal that aerobic exercise may improve the ASM contractile function in asthmatic rats by inhibiting IL-4 secretion and by down-regulating the expression of STIM1, Orai1 and Orai2, thus decreasing excessive SOCE-mediated ASM contraction in asthmatic rats.PMID:37075798

Oleanolic Acid Acetate Inhibits Mast Cell Activation in Ovalbumin-Induced Allergic Airway Inflammation
CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that OAA can inhibit mast cell-mediated allergic reaction. Consequently, the application of OAA to mast cells for the allergic airway inflammation facilitate a new direction of treating allergic asthma.PMID:37021507 | DOI:10.4168/aair.2023.15.2.214
