Pattern of use and awareness of side-effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the Jordanian population
Conclusion: Despite the high frequency of NSAID use in the Jordanian general population, there is limited knowledge of their side-effects as well as drug interactions. This is cause for concern, particularly as many participants reported having been prescribed NSAIDs by physicians without adequate patient safety education.PMID:37527416 | PMC:PMC10395194 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2242248

Real-world Severe Asthma Biologic Administration and Adherence Differs by Biologic: CHRONICLE Study Results
CONCLUSION: Patients with SA are mostly adherent to biologic therapies. Biologics with shorter dosing intervals and at-home administration had worse adherence, likely due to greater opportunities for delays. Specialist-reported administration data provide a unique perspective on biologic adherence, which may be overestimated for at-home administrations by insurance claims data.PMID:37506846 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.07.017

Cost-Related Medication Nonadherence In U.S. Adults With Asthma: The National Health Interview Survey 2013-2020
CONCLUSION: In U.S., one in six adults with a history of asthma is nonadherence with medications due to costs. Removing financial barriers to accessing medication can improve medication adherence in patients with asthma.PMID:37499864 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.07.013

Real-world Severe Asthma Biologic Administration and Adherence Differs by Biologic: CHRONICLE Study Results
Patient adherence to biologic therapies is crucial for clinical benefits. Previous assessments of US patients ’ adherence to severe asthma (SA) biologic therapies have relied on healthcare insurance claims data that have limitations.

ACAAI members' preferred step 1-3 asthma maintenance and reliever therapy and incomplete insurance coverage indicated as main practice hurdle
CONCLUSION: Asthma therapy varies among physicians, with respondents suggesting underutilization of the recommended anti-inflammatory rescue and SMART therapy. A major hurdle is lack of insurance coverage of medication in line with guidelines.PMID:37328056 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.05.036

ACAAI members ’ preferred step 1-3 asthma maintenance and reliever therapy and incomplete insurance coverage indicated as main practice hurdle
New asthma guidelines (GINA, 2022; NAEPP EPR-4, 2020), include considerable changes in treatment recommendations, specifically regarding anti-inflammatory rescue and Single MAintenance and Reliever Therapy (SMART).

Body Mass Index in relation to symptom presentation upon diagnosis of Eosinophilic Esophagitis in Children
CONCLUSION: Nearly one-third of children were obese or overweight status upon diagnosis with EoE. Children with BMI in the overweight or obese range were more likely to be older at diagnosis and to have a chief complaint of abdominal pain on presentation.PMID:37311509 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.06.004

Frequency of exacerbation and degree of required asthma medication can characterize childhood longitudinal asthma trajectories
CONCLUSION: The present study identified four longitudinal asthma trajectories based on the frequency of asthma exacerbation and asthma medication ranks. These results would be helpful in understanding the heterogeneities and pathophysiologies of childhood asthma.PMID:37302526 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2023.05.035
