Outcomes of stroke events during transcatheter aortic valve implantation
CONCLUSIONS: Among Medicare beneficiaries undergoing TAVI, procedure-related ischaemic stroke was associated with worse outcomes, increased Medicare expenditures, and less time spent at home. Procedure-related ischaemic stroke during TAVI remains a critically important and potentially preventable source of patient mortality, morbidity and healthcare utilisation.PMID:35135749 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-21-00951

Hypertension is Associated with Increased Mortality after Ischemic Stroke in Children (S42.003)
Conclusion: The observation that HTN was associated with a 3 times greater odds of death in the hospital for children presenting with ischemic stroke requires further study. HTN is a potentially modifiable risk factor for poor outcome.Disclosure: Dr. Caceres has nothing to disclose. Dr. Malik has nothing to disclose. Dr. Qureshi has nothing to disclose. Predictors of acute kidney injury after coronary artery surgery in Jordanians
Conclusion Emergency coronary surgery, mitral regurgitation, prolonged inotropic support, and stroke or transient ischemic attack are independent predictors of acute kidney injury following coronary bypass surgery. Further studies involving patients with isolated coronary bypass surgery as well as valve and combined surgeries may be necessary to complete our understanding of this subject.

Endovascular versus open surgical repair for complicated chronic Type B aortic dissection
CONCLUSIONS: Due to lack of RCTs or CCTs investigating the effectiveness and safety of TEVAR compared to OSR for patients with complicated CBAD, we are unable to provide any evidence to inform decision-making on the optimal intervention for these patients. High-quality RCTs or CCTs addressing this objective are necessary. However, conducting such studies will be challenging for this life-threatening disease.PMID:34905228 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD012992.pub2

The Impact of Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair on Long-Term Survival in Type B Aortic  Dissection
Conclusions The treatment of uncomplicated aTBAD with optimal medical therapy results in a high incidence of surgical intervention and poor long-term survival. At the index hospitalization, TEVAR may confer a survival advantage and serve as optimal therapy for complicated and uncomplicated aTBAD patients.
