Association of Iso-Osmolar vs Low-Osmolar Contrast Media With Major Adverse Renal or Cardiovascular Events in Patients at High Risk for Acute Kidney Injury Undergoing Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
CONCLUSIONS: Use of IOCM vs LOCM in patients at high risk of AKI undergoing EVAR procedures was associated with a lower risk of MARCE. As prevention of AKI or cardiovascular events after EVAR procedures may lead to reduced morbidity and mortality, this finding may have important clinical implications and should be confirmed through randomized controlled clinical studies.PMID:34280892

Safety and efficacy of iron supplementation after myocardial infarction in mice with moderate blood loss anaemia
ConclusionsIron supplementation 24  h after reperfusion of AMI is safe and reversed enlargement of end-systolic volume after AMI resulting in increased stroke volume and cardiac output. This highlights its potential as adjunctive treatment in anaemia with ID after reperfused AMI. Time point of iron application after reperfusion appe ars critical.

Contribution of Various Types of Transfusion to Acute and Delayed Intracerebral Hemorrhage Injury
The objective of this work is to review transfusions with platelets, fresh frozen plasma (FFP), prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC), and red blood cells (RBCs) in patients with ICH. Furthermore, tranexamic acid infusion studies have been included due to its connection to ICH and hematoma expansion. As stated, the first line of therapy is limiting bleeding in the brain and hematoma expansion. Platelet transfusion is used to promote recovery and mitigate brain damage, notably in patients with severe thrombocytopenia. Additionally, tranexamic acid infusion, FFP, and PCC transfusion have been shown to affect hematoma expansi...

Preoperative Risk Factors and Early Outcomes of Delirium in Valvular Open-Heart Surgery
Conclusion In valvular open-heart surgery, postoperative delirium is a frequent neurological complication that is associated with other postoperative neurological complications and several, mostly nonmodifiable, preoperative risk factors. Although postoperative delirium was associated with a significantly increased risk of prolonged ICU stay, this did not translate into an increased short-term mortality.
