Cardiac comorbidity in head and neck cancer patients and its influence on cancer treatment selection and mortality: a prospective cohort study
AbstractComorbidity assessment and a profound cardiac examination were implemented into pre-treatment diagnostics to analyze their influence on head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) therapy selection and short-term mortality. Comorbidity was measured prospectively in 49 HNSCC patients using standard indices between 2012 and 2013. Cardiac examinations included electrocardiogram, echocardiography, and bicycle ergometry. Is red hair gene linked to increased risk of Parkinson's?
Conclusion
This study looked at the role the red hair gene MC1R plays in the brains of mice. The findings suggest the gene has a part to play in keeping certain nerve cells in the brain alive.
The cells in question are those that die off in Parkinson's disease and cause the condition's characteristic movement problems.
These findings in mice are likely to need further investigation in human cells and tissue in lab studies.
Exactly what causes brain cells to die, causing Parkinson's disease, is unknown. As with many conditions, it's thought both genetic and environmental factors could play a role.

Bilateral lingual artery stenosis: A rare, late complication of chemoradiotherapy
Discussion Small vessel disease is a possible complication in patients treated by RT for head and neck cancer. Although the risk of these complications is not directly related to the total radiation dose, higher doses appear to accelerate the development of vascular lesions. Practitioners must be aware of the possibility of these complications, especially in patients surviving more than 5 years.

Escaping most common lethal diseases in old age: Morbidity profiles of Portuguese centenarians
Conclusions Findings reinforce the great variability of age-related pathologies and overall health status in centenarians, but that a great majority had the ability to evade the most lethal conditions. Management of patients with multimorbidity in very advanced ages has become a major healthcare challenge and our findings provide further evidence for policies and targeted interventions for this population.

In Defense of Progesterone: A Review of the Literature.
Conclusions • Physicians should have no hesitation prescribing natural progesterone. The evidence is clear that progesterone does not cause breast cancer. Indeed, progesterone is protective and preventative of breast cancer.
