Abstract PR04: Functional mobility disparities in older African American women with cancer in a multisite lay navigation program in the Deep South
Conclusions: AA oncogeriatric females have a greater number of high risk diseases and functional mobility limitations that affect their health, compared to Caucasians. By identifying functional mobility limitations early, proactive interventions can be implemented, monitored, and adjusted to modify or resolve mobility problems that can lead to disability and health disparities in oncogeriatric females. Predictors of 30-day mortality following hip/pelvis fractures
Discussion Several preoperative patient risk factors and postoperative complications greatly increased the odds for patient mortality following 30-days after initial surgery. Changing Incidence of Major Cardiovascular Events in Multiple Myeloma Patients over Time
Conclusion: CVD is a common complication in MM patients: within 5 years of a MM diagnosis, over 25% develop CVD requiring hospitalization. Contrary to our hypothesis, we did not find increased CVD admissions in the most recent era. Decreased admissions due to CHF and CAD in the most recent era of diagnosis may indicate a greater awareness of this issue, routine thromboprophylaxis with anti-platelet agents in patients being treated with immunomodulatory agents, or changes in secular trends in the diagnosis and treatment of CVD.
