WAMC 1st time nontrad, career changer
Hello! I'm a current chemistry graduate PhD student looking to apply to vet school in the next 1-2 cycles. Strong interest in zoo, conservation vet med or equine. Would also be interested in working in nuclear medicine/diagnostic imaging since my current work is with PET imaging in humans. Both very far down the road, I understand. I was pre-vet until my sophomore/junior year in UG, swapped paths to graduate school because I didnt think my application was worth it if I didn't have... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much of my work experience can I reasonably label as research?
I’m a non-trad who has been working in healthcare since 2016 (similar to a nuclear medicine tech). About a year ago, I decided to go the premed route and received tons of support from my physicist and physician colleagues. The specialty I work in is very research heavy, so I was given the opportunity to work on many different (related) projects. This has mainly included data entry into a database that I design and maintain, image registration, consenting patients for research, and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

looking for 1 year of nuclear medicine during gap year before diagnostic radiology residency?
Hello, I am an in the match this cycle for DR. I am currently a preliminary resident so would like to do a year of nuclear medicine during my gap year. I have heard of others doing this before DR so that they were dual certified upon finishing DR residency. I have had a hard time finding information on these programs or how to apply. I have reached out to a few nuclear medicine PDs and coordinators but have only gotten 1 reply. I see there are some on ERAS but it is unclear if they are... Dr/nm
Hey all, Hope you're doing well. I'm a current radiology resident (first year). I actually had a recent experience talking with a rad trained NM doc and it piqued my interest. With the advancement of theranostics, many people say the field is headed toward a more promising future. Wondering if other people could share their experiences. Academics, PP, any setting! I'd love to hear more! Thanks so much. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is it still possible to do a Nuclear Medicine residency on its own?
When I first started browsing this forum (long, long ago), Nuclear Medicine was dying out as an independent specialty. Is it still possible to match into Nuclear Medicine and not Radiology+Nuclear Medicine? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cost for reading PET/CTs
Our group is looking at purchasing a PET/CT and I’m wondering a couple things: 1. Does NM read both the PET and CT portions of the imaging? 2. What is the ballpark cost (per study) to read a standard PET/CT if we were to contract with a NM group? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
