Best Beginnings: a proposal for a new early years guarantee to give all children in England the best start in life
This report looks at the provision of early years services for children across the country, alongside a warning that many nurseries are at risk of closure, hitting the life chances of some of the most vulnerable children and holding back the economic recovery following lockdown. The Children's Commissioner calls for a new Best Beginnings early years investment plan, ranging from Children and Family hubs to midwives and health visitors, to tackle these problems at the beginning of a child ’s life rather than waiting until crises develop in later years.ReportMore detail  (Source: Health Management Specialist Library)

Nurses, George Floyd, Racial Disparities, and the World We'd Like to See
At this unsettling time in the United States and around the world, racism is being confronted head-on by citizens who ' ve simply had enough of the status quo. The knowledge of deep racial disparities in healthcare are nothing new, and the understanding that people of color are treated more poorly within the American healthcare system is also an old story that never seems to change. But now, amidst the  COVID-19 pandemic and rampant global fear, economic insecurity, and a population tired of lip service to diversity and inclusion, millions are saying, " No more! PICSO: Population, Intervention, Control, Setting, Outcome
Things likethis NICE manual talk aboutsetting, when formulating a search question, and there is the SPICE scheme, where S is the setting.   But I am not sure I have seen a version of the PICO grid which includes setting. If there is one, it would be good to know about it and you can tell me in the comments.&nbsp But if not, I may have just invented it.  But I can ' t claim the credit.  My eye was caught bya Guardian article today about whether face masks work to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and my eye was particularly caught because the author is Professor Trisha Greenhalgh of Oxford Uni...

Choosing a suitable care provider definitely falls into the latter.   In the United States, women experiencing low-risk pregnancies can select a midwife or OB GYN to care for themselves and their babies. For some, the decision comes down to factors such as geography, insurance plans, and choice of birth location. Let’s take that last one, for example. If a woman is interested in delivering at home, a consult with a home birth midwife is the way to go. Both types of providers have privileges at hospitals...
