Socioeconomic disparities in birth outcomes,
In recent years in Canada, about 9% of babies born are small for their gestational age (SGA) and 8% are born preterm. Given that these babies are at increased risk of infant illness or death, and at increased risk of health problems in later life, it is important to understand the factors that might contribute to these birth outcomes. According to data from the 2015/2016 Canadian Community Health Survey, the majority of Canadians (58.8%) aged 12 and older had received a flu shot at some point in their lives, while almost one-third (32.4%) had gotten a flu shot in the previous 12 months.
