Can TERT rs2853669 polymorphysm indicate fibrosis in sarcoidosis?
CONCLUSIONS: In sarcoidosis patients, telomerase rs2853669 polymorphism does not indicate progression to fibrosis, but since FEV1% was found to be lower in individuals with homozygous CC polymorphism, it is thought that it may predict loss of respiratory function. Further studies are needed to evaluate the association of telomerase polymorphisms with fibrosis in sarcoidosis.PMID:38126504 | PMC:PMC10965005 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v40i4.14023 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)

An unusual case of sarcoidosis presenting as calf pain
Sarcoidosis Vasc Diffuse Lung Dis. 2023 Dec 20;40(4):e2023056. doi: 10.36141/svdld.v40i4.14004.ABSTRACTSarcoidosis is a multisystem chronic inflammatory disease predominantly affecting the lungs. Myositis as a presenting manifestation of sarcoidosis is extremely uncommon and seldom reported. Here we report a 20-year-old male who presented with bilateral calf pain for six months. On evaluation magnetic resonance imaging showed features of myositis, and muscle biopsy was suggestive of sarcoidosis with granulomatous vasculitis. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography scan revealed involvement of spleen in addition to...

Outcomes in patients with sarcoidosis and COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with sarcoidosis may not be at increased risk of critical illness or death from COVID-19, and immunosuppression therapy in these patients may reduce the risk of critical COVID-19.PMID:38126507 | PMC:PMC10965003 | DOI:10.36141/svdld.v40i4.13855 (Source: Sarcoidosis Vasculitis and Diffuse Lung Diseases)

Prognosis of sarcoidosis and factors affecting prognosis
This study was planned to obtain prognosis data for our country and to determine the factors affecting the prognosis.PATIENTS AND METHODS: 188 patients, followed regularly for three years or more, admitted to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Chest Diseases between 2012-2017 were evaluated retrospectively. Increased radiological findings, functional impairment and any of the clinical conditions requiring initiation/modification of treatment were accepted as progression. Clinical status of the patients at the last follow-up was defined as remission with treatment, spontaneous remission, stable disease, pr...
