Art and projective methods.
In this editorial, the author notes that art seems to have a close relationship with projective methods. The special section of this volume of Rorschachiana is dedicated to the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). It aims to highlight the importance of storytelling techniques in the field of projective methods and hopefully encourages other clinicians and academics to submit their work to Rorschachiana. The general section of this volume contains four original articles on various current topics. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2014 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Rorschachiana)

Integration of attachment self-report scales with the Rorschach.
The current case study exemplifies the value of integrating an attachment self-report tool measuring attachment orientation with the Rorschach. This process is presented by means of a case study that demonstrates the usefulness of the Rorschach when clients have difficulties self-disclose their attachment insecurity. The Rorschach clarified the clinical picture of the client and guided the therapist in finding the road to the suffering client. Only after one year of therapy the client’s attachment questionnaire scores and her Rorschach converged. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2014 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Rorschachiana)

The association between self-report attachment dimensions and the Rorschach Oral Dependency Scale in a sample of Czech adults.
This study examines the association between dimensions of ECR (attachment-related avoidance and anxiety) and the Rorschach Oral Dependency scale (Bornstein & Masling, 2005) on a sample of Czech adults. It points out the association between ECR and relevant Rorschach CS variables (Exner, 2003). Our research sample consists of 31 volunteers from the Czech Republic. The average age of the participants was 24.9 years, the age range from 19 to 47 years. The results indicate that attachment anxiety measured by ECR is significantly associated with the ROD score, but elaborated correlations between the ROD score and attachment anx...

Rorschach texture responses are related to adult attachment via tactile imagery and emotion.
This study examined an underlying mechanism of the relationships among Rorschach texture responses and adult attachment dimensions (attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance), focusing on the vividness of tactile imagery and emotion as mediators. In Study 1, Japanese undergraduate students (n = 20) completed the Rorschach and the Vividness of Tactile Imagery Scale. A poisson regression analysis revealed that greater vividness of tactile imagery was associated with an increased number of texture responses. In Study 2, Japanese undergraduate students (n = 224) completed the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale for the G...

Empirical and clinical aspects of attachment theory.
This editorial provides an introduction to the current special section on attachment theory. Over the years there have been controversies between clinicians and researchers over the best assessment methods for attachment patterns. Self-report, interview, and projective tests have all been held in high regard. The articles in this special section exemplify the value of integrating attachment dimensions from various domains. Vulnerabilities in a school-based conduct disorder sample as identified by the Rorschach and PCL: YV.
This study provides Rorschach Inkblot Method (RIM) and Psychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (PCL: YV) descriptive data for a sample (N = 63) of conduct-disordered (CD) male adolescents in an alternative education school setting. The research is based upon the doctoral dissertation completed by Talkington in 2009. Results indicate that, while the Rorschach protocols of these youth accurately reflect the cognitive and emotional impoverishment of the group (IQ = M = 76.79; R = M = 16.34; Lambda = M = 1.13), their constriction makes them less useful for differentiation based on psychopathy level. Implications for treatment acc...

CHESSSS: A free software solution to score and compute the Rorschach Comprehensive System and Supplementary Scales.
CHESSSS is an open source project we propose to the Rorschach community. It can be freely distributed and adjusted to one’s particular needs. We have paid much attention to make it as efficient and user-friendly an application as possible. Its use and even its programming do not require a high level of skills in informatics. This project provides solutions for issues concerning computing Rorschach Supplementary Scales, interrater reliability, standardization of Form Quality tables across countries, the search for items in the FQ tables, and the creation of databases. It also addresses the complexity of RCS interpretation...

Rorschach-CS scores of six groups of patients: Evaluated before, after, and two years after long-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis.
In this study we used a quasiexperimental, cross-sectional design with six cohorts differing in phase of treatment (pretreatment, posttreatment, 2-year posttreatment) and treatment type (psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy) and investigated scores on 39 Rorschach-CS variables. The total sample consisted of 176 participants from four mental health care organizations in The Netherlands. We first examined pretreatment differences between patients entering psychoanalysis and patients entering psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The two treatment groups did not seem to differ substantially before treatment, with the excep...

Space for thought: Representation of body boundaries and intellectual efficiency in children.
Conclusion: The development of thinking and personality are undoubtedly linked and the Barrier and Penetration variables are useful measures when evaluating the development of a space for thought. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2013 APA, all rights reserved) (Source: Rorschachiana)

Systemic thinking.
Projective methods enable clinicians to grasp the complexities of human mental functioning as well as their representation of interpersonal relations. However, systemic theory has had little impact on thinking about how relationships influence individual differences. The general section of Rorschachiana, volume 34, issue 1, contains original articles addressing a wide range of issues related to systemic thinking.
