Consideration of Muscle Depth for Botulinum Toxin Injections: A Three-Dimensional Approach
This article explores a three-dimensional anatomical approach to achieve excellent outcomes, rather than the two-dimensional approach traditionally discussed. Many of the injection techniques defined in this article are considered off-label by the Food and Drug Administration at the time of this publication but are commonly discussed in peer-reviewed literature and consensus opinion reports. Twelve facial muscles often injected for positive aesthetic outcomes will be outlined as well as seven facial muscles to generally avoid. (Source: Plastic Surgical Nursing)

Postparalytic Hemifacial Spasm: A Case Study
Treatment with neuromodulators is the most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedure globally and on the increase. However, there are times when a cosmetic treatment crosses over into a medical treatment. This case presentation demonstrates that sometimes the patient seeking treatment of a certain complaint may have a much larger issue(s) to address first. (Source: Plastic Surgical Nursing)

“Sign Here”: Nursing Value and the Process of Informed Consent
This article offers a primer on the legal, ethical, and practical aspects of procedural informed consent and examines the value of nursing's role within the process. The theory of nursing's value is sound, but the literature lacks data. Higher levels of evidence are necessary to make sound decisions about best practice for the process of informed consent. As such, this article concludes that adding nursing research to the current discourse should prove most valuable to patients, providers, and the nursing profession as a whole. A Pharmacologic Review of Anaphylaxis
Anaphylaxis occurs in the surgical population and may have devastating consequences. Anaphylaxis and anaphylactoid reactions are immediate hypersensitivity reactions that are most commonly precipitated by medications, insect stings, and foods. In the surgical population, 47.4% of immediate hypersensitivity reactions were precipitated by neuromuscular blocking agents, followed by latex and antibiotics in 20% and 18.1% of cases, respectively. Initial treatment consists of removing the precipitating trigger, administering epinephrine, and correct patient positioning. Secondary prevention measures should be instituted to preve...
