Clinical Update on Uses for Mifepristone in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Conclusions and Relevance Mifepristone is a safe and effective medication both for its approved use in first-trimester medication abortion and other off-label uses. Because of its primary use as an abortifacient, mifepristone is underutilized by clinicians. Providers should consider mifepristone for other indications as clinically appropriate. Target Audience Obstetricians and gynecologists, family physicians. Learning Objectives After completing this activity, the learner should be better able to describe the history of the development of mifepristone, including its mechanism of action and safety profile...

Guidelines for Cystic Fibrosis Carrier Screening in the Prenatal/Preconception Period
Conclusions and Relevance The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that obstetricians offer CF carrier screening to all pregnant women or women considering becoming pregnant. Based on recent guidelines from ACMG, additional expanded carrier screening can be recommended to patients in the future, with additional CF variants and other autosomal or X-linked recessive conditions. It is important for the prenatal care provider to understand the guidelines for carrier screening as well as the potential complexities associated with carrier screening due to the multiple pathogenic variants in the CFTR...

Effect of Intrapartum Maternal Hemoglobin on Mode of Delivery and Short-Term Neonatal Outcome: A Systematic Review
Conclusions and Relevance We found a trend toward an increased risk of cesarean delivery in anemic woman. Concerning the short-term neonatal outcomes, the evidence is conflicting, and included studies are too heterogenic to compare. Furthermore, various studies indicated a relation between high Hb levels and increased perinatal mortality. Therefore, we especially recommend attention to elevated Hb levels. Target Audience Obstetricians and gynecologists, family physicians. Learning Objectives After completing this activity, the learner should be better able to describe how Hb levels affect mode of delivery...
