Impact of early external ventricular drainage on functional outcome after traumatic brain injury: a bicentric retrospective cohort analysis
CONCLUSION: Early insertion of EVD (<24 h) for intracranial hypertension after TBI was not associated with improved outcome at 3 months.PMID:37696447 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101487 (Source: Neurochirurgie)

Chordoma concurrent with benign notochordal cell tumor of the mobile- should the chordoma part be biopsied? - A stepwise approach for management
We present an educational rare case of lumbar vertebral BNCTs concomitant with a destructive lesion not reachable on biopsy but thought to be chordoma. We present a stepwise approach for management of these difficult entities based on radiological features.PMID:37696448 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101488 (Source: Neurochirurgie)

Diagnosis of pituitary abscess and treatment via transsphenoidal surgery: experience from 15 cases
CONCLUSIONS: The typical manifestations of pituitary abscess include hypopituitarism and headaches; the presence of an enhanced ring at the edge of the mass on contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images (MRI) is highly suggestive of pituitary abscess. We recommend antibiotic treatment for 4-6 weeks postoperatively, based on the results of bacterial cultures or metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS).PMID:37598621 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101478 (Source: Neurochirurgie)

Urolithin A alleviates early brain injury after subarachnoid hemorrhage by regulating the AMPK/mTOR pathway-mediated autophagy
CONCLUSION: UA alleviates neurological deficits, BBB permeability, and cerebral edema by inhibiting cortical neuronal apoptosis through regulating the AMPK/mTOR pathway-dependent autophagy in rats following SAH.PMID:37598622 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2023.101480 (Source: Neurochirurgie)
