Transtibial Socket Design, Interface, and Suspension: A Clinical Practice Guideline
Conclusions These clinical practice guidelines summarize the available evidence related to the socket design, interface, and suspension of definitive transitibial prostheses. The noted clinical practice guidelines are meant to serve on as “guides.” They may not apply to all patients and clinical situations. (Source: JPO Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics)

Custom-Soldered, Double-Ring Retained Silicone Finger Prosthesis
Conclusions The technique described in this report provides an effective, reversible, and straightforward method of managing the compromised situation. The double-ring technique offers a nonsurgical alternative to rehabilitation of patients with compromised residual digits. (Source: JPO Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics)

A Comparison of Gait Parameters Using Varying Orthotic Designs in a Child With Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy After Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Surgery: A Case Report
This report suggests stance phase stability may be enhanced with AFO/FCs, but swing phase may improve with FO and SMO conditions in children with weakness after SDR. Further studies analyzing gait, balance, and motor function using varying orthoses in children with CP after SDR are warranted. (Source: JPO Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics)

A Digital Photogrammetric Method to Enhance the Fabrication of Custom-Made Spinal Orthoses
Conclusions Digital photogrammetry can be used to enhance the data acquisition and data processing of anatomical surfaces for the CAD/CAM process of spinal orthoses. The data acquisition time, almost instant, allows an easy compliance of many patients. The data processing allows generating accurate models of the patient's body. The overall process generates orthoses with a better quality with respect to those manufactured using conventional procedures. (Source: JPO Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics)

Development of the Fundamental Training and Evaluation Tool for the Prosthetic Body-Powered Split Hook: A Preliminary Correlational Study
Conclusions These results suggest that time-related items in the FTBSH test are highly reproducible and sensitive to clinical change. Although further studies on the FTBSH are required, the FTBSH shows promise as an effective tool for clinical practice to bring about improvements in operational capacity for individuals with amputation with a prosthetic body-powered split hook. The Benefit of a Flexible Ankle-Foot Orthosis on Balance and Walking Ability in Persons With Late Effects of Polio: A Mixed-Methods Study
Introduction Many persons with late effects of polio (LEoP) have muscle weakness in the lower limbs, which affects their balance and walking ability. Although an ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) is commonly prescribed for these persons, there is limited knowledge if an AFO improves their balance and walking ability in terms of speed, distance, and perceived safety. The aims of this study were 1) to assess if a flexible AFO improves dynamic balance as well as indoor and outdoor walking in persons with mild to moderate LEoP and 2) to describe the participants' own perceptions of walking ability and safety, as well as advantages a...
