Telehospice has been recognized as a way to meet the needs of hospice patients and their caregivers. The purpose of this study was to examine the comfort of hospice staff using telehospice to connect virtually with patients and caregivers. Experiences of Families with Adult Home Invasive Mechanical Ventilation Patients: A Meta-Synthesis
This study aimed to synthesize the existing qualitative research that examined family members' experiences of caring for adult patients using HMV. Reducing Nurse Practitioner Turnover in Home Based Primary Care: A Department of Veterans Affairs Quality Improvement Project
Access to healthcare is challenging for both Veterans and the nation's general population. To keep up with national primary healthcare needs, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) implemented Home Based Primary Care (HBPC). After a structure remodel at a Texas VA medical center, 40% of nurse practitioners (NPs) left the HBPC department in one year. Association of a Substance Use Disorder with Infectious Diseases among Adult Home Healthcare Patients with a Venous Access Device
This study examined the association of SUD with infectious diseases among adult home healthcare patients with a VAD. We identified adult patients with an existing VAD who were admitted to a home healthcare agency August 1, 2017–July 31, 2018 from the electronic health records of a large Medicare-certified agency. Four serious infectious diseases (endocarditis, epidural abscess, septic arthritis, and osteomyelitis) and SUD related to injectable drugs were identified using relevant ICD-10 codes. Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) resulting from metastatic spread to the pleura frequently occurs in patients with primary lung, breast, hematological, gastrointestinal, and gynecological cancers. These effusions tend to reaccumulate quickly, and the patient requires increasingly frequent thoracentesis.
