Intra-aortic Balloon Pump Versus Impella in Managing Cardiogenic Shock After Myocardial Infarction: Literature Review
Discussion Further research in an adequately powered randomized clinical trial is needed to shed light on the clinical characteristics of patients after AMICS who would benefit from 1 type of mechanical circulatory support over another. The therapy chosen is determined by provider discretion and skill set, as well as device availability. It is important for all care team members, including the critical care nurse, to understand the implications and complications associated with each therapy, so care can be catered to the individual patient's needs. Sleep of Intensive Care Patients: A Qualitative Study Based on Experiences of Nurses
Conclusions This study revealed that nurses are aware of the importance of sleep; however, they do not evaluate sleep and try to improve sleep quality only based on their own knowledge and experience rather than on evidence-based approaches. However, their interventions are not sufficient and they are restricted because of physical conditions and intensive care procedures. (Source: Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing)

The Impact of Type of Acute Myocardial Infarction on Cardiac Patient Self-efficacy After Hospitalization
Conclusions Assessment of self-efficacy for post-AMI patients is recommended. Moreover, post–non-STEMI patients need more attention when implementing an intervention to enhance self-efficacy after hospitalization. Health decision makers have to consider establishing cardiac rehabilitation to improve self-efficacy in Jordan. Further research is needed to confirm the study results and to investigate other contributing factors that could influence self-efficacy after hospitalization. Advancing the Practice of Family Presence During Resuscitation: A Multifaceted Hospital-Wide Interprofessional Program
This article provides guidance for nurse leaders seeking to advance FPDR by sharing the experience of establishing a multifaceted, hospital-wide program of education and policy development. Objectives This quality improvement project aimed to (1) implement a hospital-wide FPDR program guided by policy, (2) evaluate classroom and simulation educational interventions, (3) examine chart review data for evidence of FPDR practice change, and (4) act on information learned to further improve the FPDR program and increase practice implementation. Methods The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycle provided the model for cycl...

Interventions to Reduce Nurses' Moral Distress in the Intensive Care Unit: An Integrative Review
Discussion Only a few studies have been conducted examining this issue. These studies had severe limitations, such as small sample sizes, attrition, and inadequate control groups. There were also few statistically significant results. These interventions should be reexamined using larger sample sizes, and other interventions should also be trialed. COVID-19 may have had a significant impact on this issue, and interventions may need to be refocused in the wake of the pandemic. (Source: Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing)

Development and Preliminary Psychometric Testing of the Drake Atrial Electrogram Assessment Survey: DAEGAS
Discussion Content validity evidence exceeded the a priori criterion. Internal consistency and stability reliability estimates did not meet the criterion, albeit the latter met the criterion recommended by psychometricians for a new instrument. Recommendations include further development of the DAEGAS to improve internal consistency estimates and testing for evidence of other forms of validity. Reliable and valid assessment of critical care nurse knowledge of AEGs will require improved psychometric performance of the DAEGAS. (Source: Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing)

Quality of Life of Pediatric Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-sectional Study
Conclusion According to this study, female nurses were more likely to experience posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, findings also highlighted a lower quality of social life for those with clinically vulnerable relatives may be due to a self-limitation of interactions with other people. Finally, sleep disturbances were prevalent, potentially affecting nurses' mental health and performance. (Source: Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing)
