Percutaneous coronary intervention for left main coronary artery malperfusion in acute type A aortic dissection
We examined nine consecutive patients undergoing PCI for LMCA malperfusion caused by AAAD between 1995 and 2020. The mean age was 55.4  ± 7.7 years. Eight patients presented cardiogenic shock, and five patients cardiopulmonary arrest. Two patients were diagnosed with AAAD before coronary angiography using computed tomography and transthoracic echocardiography, respectively, and in the other seven patients after coronary angio graphy using other modalities. Four patients underwent PCI on intra-aortic balloon pumping support, and four patients on venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) support, inclu...

Comparison of clinical outcomes between percutaneous coronary intervention for de novo lesions versus in-stent restenosis lesions
AbstractIn-stent restenosis (ISR) remains the primary concern after a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and is considered to be associated with worse clinical outcomes. However, comparative data on ISR and de novo lesions are rare. Therefore, we aimed to compare PCI-related clinical outcomes between patients with de novo lesions and those with ISR lesions. We undertook a retrospective analysis of patients who had undergone a PCI between 2013 and 2020. The incidences of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) and all-cause death over a 2-year follow-up period were evaluated. In total, 1538 patients w...

Effect of transcatheter closure by AmplatzerTM Duct Occluder II in patients with small ventricular septal defect
AbstractTranscatheter closure of ventricular septal defect (VSD) is an alternative treatment of surgery. However, because of the potential risk of the complete atrioventricular block (AVB) and the lack of available dedicated devices for VSD, this procedure rarely used most centers. Recently in Thailand, with distinct device design that may cause less clamp force and radial force, the AmplatzerTMDuct Occluder (ADO) II has become available for the closure of small VSDs. This is a retrospective review of 49 patients who underwent transcatheter VSD closure using ADO II at Songklanagarind hospital and Queen Sirikit National Ins...

Differences in routes of guiding catheters for left coronary artery according to access sites assessed by the combined angiography-computed tomography system
We examined the differences in the routes of GCs for the left coronary artery (LCA) among the right radial, left radial, and femoral approaches. We used a combined angiography-computed tomography (CT) system that enabled to perform CT scans during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We enrolled 88 patients who underwent CT scans during LCA PCI or percutaneous transluminal septal myocardial ablation. To evaluate the route of GCs, we analyzed the positions of the catheter ’s contact point on the contralateral aortic wall to the LCA ostium, which were expressed by the angle formed by the vertical line and the diagonal...

Open-label multicenter registry on the outcomes of peripheral arterial disease treated by balloon angioplasty with optical frequency domain imaging in superficial femoral artery and popliteal artery (OCEAN-SFA study)
This study was a prospective multicenter single arm study. OFDI was performed before and after balloon angioplasty and plaque characteristics and vascular features, along with de novo lesions, were assessed. The primary outcome was the presence or absence of restenosis 6 months after balloon angioplasty. Residual platelet reactivity was assessed according to VerifyNow platelet reactivity units (PRUs). The number of patients completing 6 months of follow-up was 47, of which 14 had developed restenosis. Maximum thickness of the dissection flap (odds ratio (OR) 2.71; 95% confidence interv al [0.9–8.0];p = 0.071) and l...

Safety and feasibility of retrograde INOUE-BALLOON for balloon aortic valvuloplasty without rapid ventricular pacing during transcatheter aortic valve replacement
In conclusion, BAV using retrograde IB without RVP is both safe and feasible. More stable hemodynamics were achieved using retrograde IB by avoiding RVP during TAVR. (Source: Cardiovascular Intervention and Therapeutics)
