Bioscaffolds of graphene based-polymeric hybrid materials for myocardial tissue engineering
CONCLUSION: Cardiac tissue regeneration characteristically utilizes an extracellular matrix (scaffold), cells, and growth factors that enhance cell adhesion, growth, and cardiogenic differentiation. From the various evaluated electroactive polymeric scaffolds for cardiac tissue regeneration in the past decade, graphene and its derivatives-based materials can be utilized efficiently for cardiac tissue engineering.PMID:38327630 | PMC:PMC10844587 | DOI:10.34172/bi.2023.27684 (Source: BioImpacts)

Targeting long non-coding RNAs as new modulators in anti-EGFR resistance mechanisms
Bioimpacts. 2024;14(1):27696. doi: 10.34172/bi.2023.27696. Epub 2023 Aug 29.ABSTRACTEpidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a cell surface protein that plays a vital role in regulating cell growth and division. However, certain tumors, such as colorectal cancer (CRC), can exhibit an overexpression of EGFR, resulting in uncontrolled cell growth and tumor progression. To address this issue, therapies targeting and inhibiting EGFR activity have been developed to suppress cancer growth. Nevertheless, resistance to these therapies poses a significant obstacle in cancer treatment. Recent research has focused on comprehending ...

Effect of Honokiol on culture time and survival of Alzheimer's disease iPSC-derived neurons
CONCLUSION: AD iPSC-derived neurons had a high viability rate when cultured in the presence of honokiol. These results have shown that AD iPSC-derived neurons can be an excellent model for screening neurotrophic agents and improving the conditions for long-term cultures of human iPSC-derived neurons. Honokiol proves to be a potential candidate for cellular therapeutics against neurodegenerative disorders.PMID:38327632 | PMC:PMC10844589 | DOI:10.34172/bi.2023.27652 (Source: BioImpacts)

Synthesis and initial < em > in vitro < /em > evaluation of olmutinib derivatives as prospective imaging probe for non-small cell lung cancer
CONCLUSION: The cytotoxicity effect of I-OTB was comparable to that of OTB. This result indicates that the iodine substituent in OTB did not alter the parent compound selectivity toward double mutations EGFR L858R/T790M. Therefore, I-OTB is prominent for radioiodination, and [123/124I] I-OTB may be a promising candidate for EGFR L858R/T790M mutation imaging.PMID:38327635 | PMC:PMC10844591 | DOI:10.34172/bi.2023.27774 (Source: BioImpacts)
