Neuropsychiatric disorders account for a significant proportion of the burden of non-communicable disease in high-, middle-, and low-income countries. Yet marked inequities in the financing of health services and the supply of human resources for mental health care are evident between countries and within countries. Neal Halfon, MD, MPH is director of the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities.
